Marita Sheeran is moving to Seattle. We're sorry to see her go, but she's having a heck of a moving sale. Along with vintage and designer clothes (size 12), shoes (size 10), yard equipment, some garden containers, assorted knick knacks, and patio furniture, she's offering a wood and metal glider (asking $100), a coat rack, metal filing cabinets, end table with matching cabinet, hurricane lamps, etc., etc.

1). WEST ADAMS ARTIST'S POTTERY SHOW AND SALE
Saturday and Sunday, December 16 and 17 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days 2519 5th Avenue (between Arlington and Crenshaw, just north of Adams)
Still have gifts to buy for individuals on your holiday shopping list? Artist Arthur Tobias, who has been creating pottery and sculpture professionally since 1970, has an open house and sale this weekend. A West Adams resident since 1990, his current body of work presents a variety of hand-thrown, functional wares from mugs to jugs, in porcelain and stoneware. Most recently Tobias has been experimenting with traditional alkaline glazes compounded from fireplace ashes (oak, pine, cedar and manzanita from the San Jacinto Mountains), recycled neighborhood glass and Death Valley clay.

1). A HOLIDAY TO REMEMBER IN WEST ADAMS
WAHA Holiday Party for members and volunteers Sunday, December 10 2-5 p.m. 1809 Westmoreland Blvd. ( Harvard Heights)
Good friends, good food, great cheer -- WAHA's Annual Holiday bash is this coming Sunday at the historic Craftsman home of Lynn Brown and Bill Judson.
Their home, the Evelyn Welzter Residence, was designed in 1907 by Abraham M. Edelman, a famed architect who was also involved with the designs of such landmark buildings as the Hillcrest Country Club and, in West Adams, the Shrine Auditorium. Edelman was the son of Los Angeles' pioneer Orthodox rabbi, Abraham Wolf Edelman, who presided over Congregation B'nai B'rith beginning in 1862.

1). WAHA " HOLIDAY TO REMEMBER" TOUR
Sunday, December 3 Noon to 2 p.m.
This year marks WAHA's 20th Holiday Tour, and we are celebrating with "A Holiday to Remember in Victoria Park." Tour visitors will see impressive historic homes with an abundance of period touches, including massive hearths, antique light fixtures, carved woodwork, and many fine examples of stained and leaded glass windows that evoke William Morris and the pre-Raphaelite art movement. And, they are beautifully-decorated for the holiday season.

Don't forget to join West Adams Heritage Association TOMORROW for a cocktail reception (swell food and beverages), awards, a tour of several historic USC buildings (including Doheny Memorial Library) and, no doubt, some polite arm-twisting to get you more involved with WAHA.
The University Religious Center is located on the north side of the USC campus just west of the intersection of Hoover and Jefferson (south of Jefferson). You may park off campus, or - if you would rather park on campus, enter at Gate 3 or Gate 5 (this will cost $7).

West Adams Avenues invites everyone to the neighborhood's Annual Free "Jazz In the Avenues" event on the Sunday before Labor Day. Swing to the sounds of
the Wendy Ryan Salsa All Stars and then the Michael King Trio. Bring your own tables, chairs, and/or blankets to sit on - plus a packed meal (or you can purchase tacos from a neighbor). The Avenues will provide some water, soda, and lemonade, but BYOB. Questions? Call Donna Jones, 323-734-6473.
