WAHA's Holiday Party, and a True Winter Wonderland in West Adams.

>

1). WAHA's ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY
Sunday, December 14
3 to 5 p.m.
1809 South Victoria Ave. (Lafayette Square)

Santa's Sleigh is at the ready, jingle bells are chiming, and sugar plum fairies are dancing. The Season has arrived! On the heels of WAHA's annual Holiday Historic Homes Tour and Progressive Dinner in the West Adams Avenues and a weekend of hard work, we are ready to party. WAHA's Annual Party is this coming Sunday afternoon, and you are invited.

Please join WAHA at its annual Holiday Party for members, volunteers and friends of historic preservation. We'll be serving delicious
internationally-inspired fare, and lots of good cheer.

The party will be held at the home of Gail Peterson in historic Lafayette Square. Lafayette Square is a gated enclave; enter on St. Charles Place from Crenshaw Boulevard.

We would appreciate your RSVP to: WAHAholiday@aol.com

Please do come help celebrate a successful 2008 with us.

Also, there will be copies of the new book, "West Adams," available for
purchase. The authors are our own Suzanne Tarbell Cooper, Don Lynch and John Kurtz. Give friends and relatives a peek at the history of West Adams, and benefit WAHA as well, with a holiday of gift of this unique new book. Proceeds from the sale of books at this event will benefit WAHA.

2). WINTER WONDERLAND (AND ICE SKATING! REALLY…)
Saturday, December 13
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Benny H. Potter/West Adams Avenues Memorial Park (corner 24th Street and 2nd Avenue, just west of Arlington)

The entire community is invited for winter holiday fun. Ice skating, toy give-away, skateboard ramps and rails, community booths, food, games, music, and more. (Truthfully, do we need more than ice skating? This is a first for Historic West Adams, and we do hope you'll bring your kids, and your neighbors' kids. Skates will be provided.)

Sponsored by South Seas House, the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, and the United Neighborhoods of the Historic Arlington Heights, West Adams and Jefferson Park Communities Neighborhood Council (UNNC).

3). SUBMIT YOUR NEWS

We welcome your contributions to the WAHA E-News and West Adams Heritage Association's monthly publication, "West Adams Matters." Please understand that we do have deadlines. Material for the print newsletter should be submitted no later than the 1st of the prior month (i.e.: April 1 for the May issue). If your event is scheduled for early in a month, we suggest you request coverage for the prior month (i.e.: May issue for a June 3 event), because it's entirely possible that not all of our members will have received their newsletter by then (we do try hard.) We reserve the right to edit submitted material. For the WAHA E-News, we prefer to only send it out once or twice a month. Please don't wait until two days before an event to let us know about it. It may not be sent out.

EXCEPTION: If you suddenly hear of an important city hearing or other public
meeting that is important to West Adams, we will endeavor to send out a special bulletin.

Submit your material to Laura Meyers, editor, lauramink@aol.com.
